Weekend Fun ~ BFF

Sometimes you just need a weekend with your BFF & then all things are right in the world again.  She doesn't live close enough, but 2 hours isn't that bad. I spent the weekend with my best friend from college.  (truth:  there are 4 with the title of BFF in my life)  It was a semi low key weekend but I was ok with that.  Our time together is what I was most looking forward to. At the moment we find ourselves both 32 and single...Cupid get off your ass would you.  We are waiting!  I am going to skip the play-by-play this time and just give you the pics.  Can't wait to see you again!

With a $10 donation for Breast Cancer Research we will both sport some pink locks until the end of the month.  Pretty cool.

Weekend Fun ~ Houston style

I had a great long weekend with the Twin.  I left Friday and got home last night.  We did a lot of shopping and a lot of eating so I will spare you most of those pics! haha.  I finally went to the Drybar.  The one in Houston opened just in time for my visit. I will do a entire post just on that I loved it so much!

After Twin got home from her 10 mi run on Saturday morning we went to brunch at Max's Wine Dive.  The food was good - so good that I didn't notice my picture of my awesome Creme Brûlée French Toast didn't save until I was done eating.  <---fat girl!  We sat at the bar right in front of the giant ass containers of mimosas...heaven

The weather was kinda crappy (it hadn't rained in Houston in 3 months and of course there was big storm Friday and Saturday).  So we went shopping and had a nice relaxing night. She looks good in this chair at Crate and Barrel.

It was good to just hang in with her since we don't get to see each other all the time.

Sunday was the biggest day of the weekend - I had my first breakfast taco but I guess this wasn't a good representation of the taco my sis loves so much.  I think she may have a bit of a problem but the place she normally goes had a 30 min wait for a $2 taco.  I said I thought we could go somewhere else.

Oh and apparently breakfast tacos also mean breakfast beer tubs!  Whoo-hoo!

After that we walked around a bit until it was time for our appotinments at the Drybar!  I was so excited, I have read about it and seen pics of friends that have gone and couldn't wait to see what all the fuss was about.  More to come on this later in the week.  Yes, I will do a whole post on the experience there.  I was a happy girl :)

Once we had fabulous hair we went to the mall to do some shopping. We have a family wedding in a less then 2 weeks and we both need something to wear.  I got shoes and a t-shirt haha.  Not quite wedding attire but I will keep looking.  We had a photo session scheduled for 6:30 that night.  Some of the pics are for Mom and some just for us for no other reason then we wanted to!  Twin is almost on first name basis with the girl at the Bobbi Brown counter in Nordstrom so we got made up while we were there.  I don't wear a ton of makeup ever and Melanie nailed it for me.  Just enough to make my eyes stand out but not enough I didn't feel like me.

We had our photos done in the park, Discovery Green, it was a great park.  The lady was a bit odd but hopefully she got some great shots.  We won't know until about 4 weeks.  I will let you know.

Dinner on Sunday was at another one of the Twin's favorite Houston hotspots - Chuy's.  More Mexican!  She loves herself some Mexican and it is much better in Texas then it is in PA.

The sun was out on Monday morning so we got our lazy butts off the couch and went to the pool so I can try and keep this tan for the wedding.  It was hot so I didn't last long.  I am not used to the Texas heat.  The state is mush closer to the Equator you know.  Plus they had added some extra chemicals to the pool because of all the rain so we weren't allowed to swim (cool off) at all.

A quick stop at Sprinkles on the way to the airport to bring home some sweet treats for the family and then it was time to say goodbye.

It was a great weekend and I'm glad she will be home in 2 weeks.

Weekend Fun

It's been a while since I did a weekend recap, but since the Twin did one today on {her blog}, I thought I would too.

It was a quick weekend but a good one.  Friday was pretty low key because my parents didn't get there with the Twin until after 11 and everyone was beat.

Saturday morning we got up and went to the Maritime festival at the lighthouse.  There was too much going on right around the lighthouse to get a good picture, I will go back to get a good one.  I did get a great shot of the old coast guard station next door.

After that it was right to the beach!  We stayed until 6 pm and it was wonderful.  I think I could sit there all day and be perfectly happy.  Here I am with both sisters.

Our spot all day....

It was Christmas in July so Santa made an appearance on the beach - candy canes and all!

We were with family friends on the beach so I did a quick little photo session with them.  I have a long way to go to be near good at this but I enjoy taking pictures and this one came out pretty good.  Love the pig tails on Lily in the middle.

This is my nephew from last year to this year.  Crazy how big he has gotten.  That's my parents on either side of him.  I didn't take these the same on purpose, but I think we will need to keep doing this for the next few years.  He is so damn cute!

Sunday was a repeat of Saturday minus the festival.  I got home Sunday night and had to celebrate National Ice Cream Day!!

 Have a great week!

A mess can be beautiful

So it was a good weekend but I did not take very many pics.  I went to the shore on Saturday for Pirate Day with the nephew and on Sunday went to a bday party for my cousin's 21st.  (it's not every day that you do a shot with your 93 yr old Gpop).

I love taking pics with my iPhone and when I find a new app - all the better.  Today I came across A Beautiful Mess, it lets you add text, doodles and fun borders to your pics.   Read about the app {here}.  Oh and in case you don't click the link, this app was created by bloggers!  If you follow me on {instagram) you will be seeing some extras on my pics from now on.

Weekend Fun

I spent all day Saturday with my aunt, my godmother, one of my best friends.  We talk almost every day!  I am glad we have the relationship we do.  She is redoing 2 guest rooms in her house each with their own bath.

We loved this color combo at Bloomingdales.  The iphone pic just doesn't do it justice.

After a full day of shopping, we went out to dinner.  Only thing I bought was a bathing suit, which I think is going back already.  I thought it would look better in my mirror at home. The lighting in the fitting rooms is never friendly - why is that?  Anyway, I couldn't make a decision on beer for the night so the waitress brought me all sorts of samples.  It was like a mini beer buffet!

Margarita night cap?  Yes, please!  My uncle makes THE best margaritas!  He will not share the recipe.  I did ask him if he would write it in his will, could you imagine.  It would be kinda funny.  I will get it out of him.  He always makes them down at the bar or in another room.  But they are so delicious!

Sunday was a relaxing day.  I did a little "educational" reading...haha  I don't know that I learned anything exciting.

Finished off the weekend with a simple pasta dinner and a glass of wine and of course some Bravo TV :)

Is it Friday yet??

Birthday Week Recap

If I didn't get this done today, it wouldn't happen.  The Twin left on Sunday and I left for a work trip to Boston on Monday morning.  Finally home and back on my couch - it is one of my favorite places to be.

What a great table to wake up to!

Cupcake for breakfast - absolutely!

On our actual day of birth I had to work, but we did meet our mom and aunt for lunch.  The company was much better then the food.  For dinner Mom, Dad, Sis and Nephew and my neighbor cousin came over for Chinese food!  Great, no stress b-day dinner.

Of course after dinner there was cake and singing...

I took vacation at the end of the week to spend some time with the Twin.  We did some shopping at Anthro, Ikea and the mall.  Too bad there was no "I" mug, but you get the idea.

Thats my present from my parents, a new floor mirror!

And here it is in its new home in my master bedroom.  Between shopping and this picture, the Twin and I went and got blowouts.  It was a first for me and while my hair was a little more curly then I wanted, I will def do it again. Someday I will wear something besides a white T, I don't even want to count how many are in the drawer (they are all different, just so you know)

Friday night we went to XFinity Live, which is right across the street from the ballpark and it was opening day.  I would like to think all these people wanted to celebrate our birthday.  We had a blast and thanks to another cousin we got to hang out in VIP, above the shit show that was below.

First ever shotski and I think I may need to make one!

Birthday girls!

Saturday morning we had a family photo session.  The pictures are our gift to Mom for Mother's Day.  I am not crazy about how I look but I am never am...

How adorable is my nephew?  The shot below is one of my favorites from the day.  We had such a great time.

Our last night we spent at the baseball game.  It was the best champagne tailgate with the worst champagne ever.  But the hotdogs were fantastic!  We had a good time and the Phils won with a walk off :)

I had a great time with the Twin and my family.

Weekend Fun

So Friday night I go to do a load of wash and my washer does not cooperate! Ugh...not what I wanted. Luckily I did find the books the old owners left for me.  But the trouble shooting didn't work. So I called the repair man and he will be here later this week to hopefully fix it.

Saturday I did some shopping.  I stopped in Anthro and picked up a book to flip through.  They always have the best books amount other things.  And of all the pages I could have flipped to, the quote below is what was staring back at me.   Sometimes life has a way of putting things right out there for you.  I should say that I don't think J was a bad man, he just may not be the one for me.

We went out for my cousin's boyfriend's birthday.  The night started out in the day.  We left for dinner at 4:30!  It was chilly out but that didn't stop me from breaking out some neon pink.

We had dinner at one of my favorite bars - Chickie's & Pete's.  They have the best crab fried - not to be confused with crabby fries or old bay fries, those just don't compare.  And melted american cheese...YUM

Our beers were still dressed for St. Pat's but that was ok.  It was cold and that's all that matters.  After dinner we went to a comedy show.  Josh Wolf from Chelsea Lately was the main act and he was hilarious.  I would definitely see him again.

Sunday my nephew came over to play at my house while my sister ran some errands.  We had a very colorful pretend picnic.  See my pink bucket in the background there?  One of my best ideas ever!

This barn is one of his favorites.  It plays music and makes animals noises and he sat there for the longest time.  He also likes that he can sit there and see out the window.  He can't see out the ones at home.

Its still cold here - that damn groundhog was wrong!  But that didn't stop a grill full of skewers on Sunday.  My aunt and uncle had my sister, nephew and I for dinner in addition to her 4 boys.  We had fun playing with the boy and the dog.

And then I woke up to snow this morning.  Will it ever be warm?

Here's hoping we get some sun this week!
